Darien High School
This new school, built on the site of the original school, will bring secondary education in Darien to a new level. The 1,200-seat, main, multi-use venue will serve the school and as a space for community events. The black box theater will serve as a drama lab where students can learn to direct, act and light scenes.

The stage, house and work lights systems are completely integrated and controls all lighting within the main theatre. A separate system provides ease of use for teachers and students.

The dimming system for the main stage is centrally located and is a dimmer-per-ciruit system. 192 - 20A circuits are installed in the main theater, 48 in the black box and 24 in the TV Studio. Outlets for data, control, and power are distributed around each theater to control periperal equipment.

The black box seats are stack chairs with comfortable upholstery. A series of platform tops and legs of different lengths provide the means to create either stage settings or seating platforms. In the main theater, permanent theater chairs with wood veneer outer backs are provided with generous row spacing and lateral sizes.

Stage draperies for the main stage, a continuous drapery track and drapery sections around the perimeter of the black box, and several backdrops for the TV Studio provide flexibility in each space. Acoustic draperies in the main auditorium vary the reverberation time.

The floors in all three spaces are southern yellow pine laid over special resilient construction.
